North and South Carolina have a government-regulated, vertically integrated utility environment. This means utilities, legislators, and regulators determine the processes of energy generation, transmission, and distribution.
Despite an energy system of government-regulated monopolies, the Carolinas are home to one of the United States’ largest clusters of renewable energy businesses. Carolinas Clean Energy Business Association (CCEBA) is dedicated to free enterprise in the energy sector, working for durable market access and ratepayer benefit through private sector innovation.
We work to create fair policies for renewables developers to compete in this regulated environment and move the Carolinas’ clean energy economy forward. This work also benefits ratepayers because renewable energy is the cheapest, least price volatile, and safest energy choice. Ratepayers benefit from competition because it offers consumers real opportunities for savings. Utilities are extremely expensive power producers due to their vast overhead costs and shareholder obligations.
Carolinas CEBA is an association of independent power producers, associated supply chain businesses, and buyers, who are committed to shaping more market oriented energy policy and regulation in North and South Carolina. Our singular goal is to ensure that the Carolinas attain a cost-effective, reliable, and safe renewable energy supply as a result of a predictable business environment.
